If you love gin, these are the cocktails to try in Hong Kong.
When it comes to gin, you either love or hate it — but those who are mad about the tipple all agree there’s nothing quite like it. If your go-to drink is a traditional G&T — with a slice of lime or cucumber — it’s time to switch up the garnish. In Hong Kong, gin lovers can indulge in some of the best gins in the world, served in a number of creative ways. From ceramic bubble baths to treasure chests, the bars around Lan Kwai Fong and Hong Kong have found their way to our hearts, presenting this classic spirit in the most decadent fashion. With the sun shining bright, let’s sip on crisp and refreshing gin cocktails at the best bars in Lan Kwai Fong.
Origins
We’re all for Instagrammable drinks, especially when they are served in a ceramic bathtub with a rubber ducky to match. The KGB cocktail might just be one of the most snapped concoctions in town. Shaken with Tanqueray Gin, Cointreau, Kyoho liqueur, lime, lemon, elderflower syrup and grape juice, this concoction is perfected with a finishing touch of bubbles, made out of tea.

New Punjab Club
If you can’t imagine life without your G&T, you have to pay a visit to New Punjab Club. Inspired by colonial-era Punjab, the restaurant’s gin trolley is a nod to the British soldiers who poured gin in their antimalarial tonic water. The Monkey 47 is made with Tanqueray Gin, Mediterranean tonic water, lavender and topped with a dried orange wheel. Once you’ve ordered from their authentic gin trolley, you’ll want to indulge here every week.

Dr Fern’s Gin Parlour
Tucked away within Landmark, Dr Fern’s is the perfect spot for Gin aficionados. Going back to the days when gin was used for medicinal purposes, they combine organic and local ingredients to create a nourishing tipple. Although they have one of the largest gin collections in the city, it’s actually the experience that makes people come back for more. Sip on the G’Vine Floraison Gin, which is stirred with Fentimans Tonic, green grapes and various botanicals or ask the doctor for a prescription (market price) and he’ll whip you up something strong.

Ping Pong 129 Gintonería
The only thing better than a classic G&T is a super cool C&T, served in a huge glass at one of the swankiest bars in town. Yes, swanky. We love Ping Pong for it’s ultra-Hong Kong vibes, great music and delicious craft gins. The old ping pong supply store has turned into the city’s favourite spot to see, be seen and sip on gin. The Old Man
Head to Hong Kong’s most celebrated new bar for your next tipple, you won’t be disappointed. The Old Man is an ode to Ernest Hemingway, one of literature’s most passionate imbibers, and a great place to relax with a tipple. Named after Hemingway’s 1929 novel, The Sun Also Rises is a tropical, viridescent concoction of fat-washed applejack, curry leaf-infused gin, sweet vermouth, sous-vide pandan leaves and lime kaffir, served with a hand-chiselled ice cube. Make sure you head over early to score a seat, there aren’t many.
