Teeing Off: The 63rd LINK Hong Kong Open Poised to Showcase Golfing Excellence

The 63rd edition of the LINK Hong Kong Open is set to take place from November 21 to 24, 2024, at the prestigious Hong Kong Golf Club in Fanling with last year’s winner Ben Campbell returning to defend his title. This iconic tournament, recognised as Hong Kong’s oldest professional sporting event, marks a significant milestone with the announcement of Link Asset Management Limited (LINK) as the title sponsor for the next three installments.

In what Andy Kwok, the captain of Hong Kong Golf Club, called an “exciting new era in the tournament’s rich history”, officials also said nine-time major winner Gary Player would act as an ambassador for the Open in November.

The tournament not only highlights local talent but also attracts golfers from around the globe, showcasing Hong Kong as a premier golfing destination.

2024 commemorates the 135th anniversary of the Hong Kong Golf Club, which has hosted the Open since its inception in 1959. This long-standing tradition places the club alongside renowned venues like Augusta National Golf Club, which have hosted the same tournament for over 60 years.

Among the participants is Gary Player, a legend in the golfing world and a World Golf Hall of Fame inductee, who has been named the tournament ambassador. Defending champion Ben Campbell from New Zealand will also return to compete. Alongside him will be rising star Taichi Kho, the first Hong Kong-born winner on the Asian Tour. Last but certainly not least, Justin Rose will grace the green and be sure to attract spectators in droves.

The LINK Hong Kong Open continues its association with the International Series, which features elevated prize funds and increased playing opportunities. The total prize purse for the 2024 tournament is set at US$2 million, attracting a competitive field of international golfers vying for the top spot.

In line with the tournament's vision to make golf accessible, ticket prices for the LINK Hong Kong Open have been maintained at 2023’s levels. Admission to the first two rounds on November 21 and 22 will be free for the public. For the weekend rounds on November 23 and 24, tickets will be priced at HK$200 per day or HK$300 for a weekend pass. Children aged 18 and below get free entry, so bring the whole family and enjoy a day out on the course!

A free shuttle bus service will be available from Central and Kowloon Tong, as well as Sheung Shui MTR station.
